Blues music is a type of African-American folk music. It is concerned with expressing emotions through song. This is best proved by Lead Belly, a famous US musician who was released from jail in 1925 due to his ability to sing the blues!The distinct vocal style that characterises the blues stems from southern work songs. These work songs were sung by plantation slaves in the south of the United States of America in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
